WILLIAMS, George

Black, 28, hanged Indiana State Prison {Marion County)

on February 8, 1907. "Officer Charles J, Russell was
shot and killed along with his partner on September 30, |
1906. Both policemen were killed by Jesse Coe and
George Williams near 200 Indianapolis Avenue, The shoot
ing of the officers occurred after an attempt to step and
question the suspects, Officer Edward J. Petticord was
the partner of Officer Russell, He also died of gun shot
wounds, George Williams was captured one day after the
shooting and was executed of February 8, 1907, at the
Indiana State Prison. Williams was the last man to be
hung at the prison, the electric chair replaced the
