Padgett, a 28-year-old white turpentine worker, lived in a cabin in

mother-in-law's house, He was arrested later that day after the

body was found and made a confession, Tried, convicted and sentenced
to die, his case was appealed to the Florida State Supreme Court
which affirmed the verdict and he was electrocuted at Raiford Prison
on Oct. 19, 1936,
