McDONALD, Michael
McDonald, a 2h-year-old white beef carrier employed by the Eastman
Company in their New York slaughter house, got drunk on his pay day,
May 1, 1898, and spent all of his money. He returned to the slaugh-
ter house and confronted the time keeper, Stephen Titus, and deman-
ded several dollars which he claimed was due to him in overtime
pays Titus told him that he would have to have the sub-time keeper
BIXKGXEREIOOR okay the claim for additional pay and refused to
give him the money until this was done. McDonald was enraged and
drew a pistol which he used to shoot Titus five times. Titus died
later that same day and McBonald was charged with, convicted of
and sentenced to die for the murder. His execution was dblayed by
severa 1 stays of execution, but he was finally electrocuted at
Sing Sing Prison on 7-31-1899
