number of robberies, During the coat strike in Fayette Co., Pa,, in
1922, he worked for a time under the Chief Special Deputy, KKXHKX
Charles Mithoefer and also became acquainted with Loomie Curimins,
After the strike was settled, the three men met again in Cleveland
and, on the afternoon of Nov, 27, 1222, while sitting in a restaurant,
they decided to ga to Columbus and rob a bank, A fourth man, William
Long, joined them and they hailed a taxi, After forcing the driver
at gunpoint to take them into the country, they released him when he
promised not to report the theft of the cab until the next day. Af-
ter they arrived in Columbus, they decided to rob a restaurant for
money on which to live until they could plan the bank robbery and
when they parked the car in front of the restaurant they had selected,
they noticed Patrolman Granison P. Koehler and Corporal Roscoe Fri-
dlle approaching, They feared that the officers had received a stolen
car report and Forber and Long, sitting in the back seat, drew their
