"In 1826, the DECATUR, owned by the well-known slave tra-
der, Austin Woolfolk, was bound with a transport of 29
slaves from Maryland to Goergia, The slaves on board re-
belled and killed 2 members of the crew, intimidated the
rest and commanded the boat to make way to Haiti, The
ship was intercepted, and conducted to New York, There
all the slaves escaped, One of them was recaptured, how-
ever, and was executed for his crimes on Dec, 16, 1826,"
(This was probably Federal with éxecution taking place
