"Tom Brock was han ed at Pickens Court House, S. C., on
Oct. 7, 1892, for the mmrder of Jerry Hughes, Town Mar-
shal of Easley in June, 1892, The drop fell at 11:20
and life was extinct in 18 minutes, His neck was not
broken, There was a large crowd in town but perfect
order was maintained, Brock was a black boy about 20
years of age, He shot Hughes at night, taking him for
Andy Corson, a negro, who had a short time before
abused him,"
