KENSINGER, John Clay

Kerisinger, a 29-year-old white native of Pittsburgh, Pa., was empl oy =
ed as a magazine salesman as was 2O=year=-old Richard Lee McCaughey
of Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio, On ‘Jurie 24, 1953, they were working

in the general vicinity of Washington D. C, That night they caught
a cab driven by 46-year-old Leroy F, Applegate of Tacoma Park, Md,
and rode to Arlington, Vae, where Kensinger pulled a pistol and or-
dered Applegate to Stop the car, Instead, Applegate continued
driving and finally stopped in front of a house ina residential
area where he informed Kansinger and McCaughey that a policeman
lived there and he was going to report the incident, Kensinger then
shot and killed him. They robbed the body of $22.00 and drove the _
Cag to a spot near the Chain Bridge where they abandoned it. Kensin-
ger was arrested shortly after the body and car were discovered and

claimed lived in the house where he had Stopped. He said Welb, it
