Loveland attended the funeral with expressions of grief and became a
suspect because of his int erest in the case and the suggestions that
he made to police, Both he and Harmon were arrested about the same
time and each confess ed, thinking that the other had already done
so, Wallingford was traced to Texas and taken into custody there

but he committed suicide with an overdose of morphine before he could
be returned to Ohio, Prior to his death, he said that Harmon had
fired the fatal shot while both Harmon and Loveland maintained that
he had killed Geyer, Harmon and Loveland received separate trials

at which both were convicted and sentenced to die, The Governor
granted Leveland an additional 30-day respite in view of the fact that
he maintained and Harmon admitted that he had received assurances fron
his accomplices that Mr. Geyer would not be harmed but the Governor
declined to intervene further and Loveland was electrocuted at the
Ohio State Prison on Nov, 25, 190), a month after Harmon had been
put to death. He was visibly unnerved when he entered the chamber
and it was necessary for the current to be applied three times before
he was pronounced dead, During the applications, his body writhed

a respectable family who early left home and became a wanderer. For
a time he had worked as a laborer for the son-in-law of George Geyer,
an elderly Frankljm Co,, Ohio, farmer, after which he was sentenced
to a 3eyear=term in the Ohio State Prison for burglary. There he
became acquainted with two other convicts, Lewis, Harmon and Miles
Wallingford to whom he expressed his belief that Mr. Geyer kept large
sums of money on his premises and could be easily robbed, After they
had all been released, they met in a Columbus saloon on the evening
of June 10, 1903, and laid their plans for robbing Geyer that nighte
