A Pyt. in Capt. Wartell ss) Company, of the Us 27th intan-
try. Executed by firing squad at Governor's Island NY
for desertion and bounty jumping. He had deserted from
Governor's Island on 7/29/14 by swimming ashore (!) and
then made his way to Poughkeepsie where he fraudulently
reenlisted with a Lieut. Turner for the sake of a $5
bounty. He was condemned by a Court Martial on 8/16/14.
