WHITTAKER, George

"Morrillton, Ark., April 25, 1895-George
Whittaker was hanged here today for the murder |
of his father-in-law at Menafee, A rk., Oct. 8,
1894, Whittaker was born in Columbus, Georgia,
moving to Texas at an early age. He is said to
have killed a man in that state and one in the
indian Territory. On the scaffold he confes-
sed the murder of his father-in-law. He smil-
ed as the noose was adjtisted and was pe#fectly
calm,
