Robinson, a 32-year-old black native of East St. Louis, I1l,, was a
U. S. Air Force Police sergeant stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base,
Texas, in 1950, Away from home and his wife, he met a 22-year-old
Wibhita Falls woman, Barbara Jean Roberts Bhompson, anfi fell in love
whth her. On the night of March 9, 1950, he was at her house at 705
Waco and she was shot through the forehead With a pistol. Robinson
put her body in his car and drove it to a lonely lane where he left
it and where it was discovered on March 11. Robinson did not deny
that he had shot Mrs, Thompson, but he maintained that it was an
accident and that he loved her,ef& He said that they were playing
with the pistol which he did not know was loaded and that it dischar-
ged accidentally. He became frightened and took the body to the
lane when he panicked. Convicted and sentenced to death, Robinson
continued to maintain his imocence of premeditated murder until 328
his death. His last words, spoken before he was electrocuted at the
exas Stape Prison on July 16, 1951, were: ®I am not guilty. It was
