laborer. @n 1935, he rode around with Camilla garage
owner Ed Norris who had over $100 in his possession. The ,
_ two men were drinking and Jones later-claimed that he had-
been planning to rob Norris for three months, He deliv-_
_ erately took small drinks and encouraged Norris to take
_ large ones. “hen the white man was thoroughly intoxica=—
ted, Jones drove him into the Negro section of town and _
‘bludgedned him with a stillson wrench. Norris crawled
onto a Negro woman's front—porch where he died. Jones
was captured the next day in Jacksonville, Flag, in
Norris' car and confessed the crime. He was electrocuted
