In the meantime, a missing persons bulletin had been issued for Shema

cription of the one owned by Shema, Bibalo promptly confessed,
assigning as a motive his desire to steal Shema's:car, and he showed
the officers where Shemats body could be found, At his trial in
April, 1952, his defense was one of insanity and he was convicted and
sentenced to die, Following an unsuccessful appeal to the Pennsyl-
vania Supreme Court, he was examinted by a sanity commission which
ruled that he was sane and on May 17, 1954, he was electrocuted at
Rockview State Prison, ~ Bibalo, who was resigned to his fate, went
to his death with a stoic attitude,

nonetheless sane, lived with his grandmother at Uniondale, Susoue-
hanna Cos, Pa, He had earlier spent several years at the KX Hunting:

spending several days with his mother at Simpson, He stopped at
Forest City where, after drinking several beers at a tavern, he
caught, a ride with Anthony Shema, a )3-year-old resident of Forest
City who had started hunting. Bibalo offered to show Shema a good
spot for hunting and agreed to accompany him, They stopped at the
house of Bibalo's grandmother where he obtained a 22 caliber rifle
and they then walked into: some woods behind the houses. They were
seated on a stone wall looking for deer when Bibalo shot Shema and
he fell to the ground, Bibalo then bludgeoned him over the head
with the rifle until it broke and used Shema&s own knife in an effort
to decapitate him (he was to state in his confession that he had
planned to hide the head and prevent identification, ) After taking
Shema's AM#MBM keys and money, he stole his victim's car and drove
it to New York where, two days later, he abandoned it near Kirkwood,
