"eee0n March 1, 1901, at 2:1 pm, Gus Davis was hanged
for the murder of Herman Schlunzeeoe"™ at Bellville, Tex,
(“ustin Coe). Article states hanging took place in jail.
This was the first hanging inside the jail though there
had been others outside, There were none afterwards, so

it may be assumed that this was the last execution in
Austin Co ®
