"New York, Sept. 1, 1766, At the special court of oyer
and terminer lately held in Dutchess County, e,sWilliam Pen=
dergas t, being found gpuilty of high treason, received
the following sentence, viz. 'Thae he be led back again to
the place from whence he came, and from thences shall be
drawn on a hurdle to the place of execution, and there
shall be hanged by the neck, and then shall be cut down
alive, and his entrails and privy members shall be cut
from his body, and shall be burned, in ris sight, and his
head shall be cut off, and his body shall be divided in
four parts, and shall be disposed at the King's pleasure,!
which sentence was ordered to be executed on Friday, the
