"The peeple of Graysen Co. (Ky.) have in the main been
jaw abiding citizens. Very few have been sent te the
penitentiary for life and there has nver been a legal
death penalty imposed in Grayson County for an offense
committed in the county. On Jan. 26, 1868, a young man
named Pleas Shields was hung (hanged) by John Clagett,
