This offender was a negro. He accosted a 13 year old
white girl near Pollocksville and forced himself on her.
He also confessed to having done so. The Raleigh News &
Observer, 4/5/08 (1:5) reports the order for his exec-
ution. The only newspaper that is known to report his
actual legal execution is The New Bern Daily Journal,
5-8-1908 (1:6) "NEGRO HANGED AT TRENTON’.
