Adams, a 5l-year-old white farm laborer, was a native of Morgan, Gaj,
who had served a 33-month prison sentence in Michigan for grand lar-
cenye After his release from prison, he returned to Georgia and
worked as a itinerant worker, At times he would visit his 5~year-
old sister, Mrs, Herman Hagin, at her home at New Elm, Colquitt Co,.,
and, while he was staying there would do odd jobs for her and for
others. On Nov. 15, 1957, he had been there for two weeks when he
got drunk and, for nok reason at all, brutally murdered her with a
claw hammer. He then turned on her two children, 3-year-old Harris
Hagin, Jrey and ll-month-old Dianne Hagin, Captured in a swamp to
which he Wad fled, he was tried, convicted and sentenced to death
for the murder of Harris Hagin, Jr. He could give no reason for the
murders, stating that_he had "just gone crazy", Adams was electro-
cuted at the Georgia “tate Prison on Nov. 1, 1958,
