HEWLETT, James Wey Jre Large Card

Hewlett, veteran of both the Air Force and the Marine
Corps at the age of 21, was convicted 121-1950 of 1st
degree murder in the slaying of a Hungington (WVA) taxi-
cab driver. A Cabell County jury which returned the ver-
dict after 1 hour and 3 minutes! deliberation did not
recommend mercy, Hewlett, BAX 21, of Motint Hope, was the
first Fayette Co. person to die in the State's new elec-
tric chair, After embracing the “oman Catholic faith,
Hewlett died in the chair at 9:00 pm on April 10, 1951.
His body was returned to his Fayette County home and in-
terred in beautiful High Lawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill.»
