Davis, a 2h-year-old Youngstown, Ohio, Negro,-in the pro=—
cess of robbing a Youngstown garage on the night of July _
3 1934, beat to death the night watchman, Thomas Z. Mc-=
lean with an iron bar, Davis eseaped-to New Jersey where
he was captured and returned to Youngstown to stand trial.
He confessed, pleaded guilty and was senténced to die, He

calmly went to his death on Oct. 17,1935, in the electric
chair.
