10, 1903-Abe Cohen, a negro who killed Susie Rogers, a
colored woman was hanged here this morning, a few minutes
after 10 o clock, Cohen was game to the last second and
kept his nérve wonderfully well. He was delivering a
harangue on death to those in the jail. The city clock
struck 10 as he was in the middle of his speech. "There
is death now,' said Cohen, and turned to walk up the
steps to the door of the cell containing the gallows."
