REGISTER, Mobile, Ala., July 19, 1884 (pl), in
reporting a W ilcox County hanging then, says
that in XBBB 1880, "Bill Kelly, (was hanged), nes
gro, for the murder.of another negro in Pine-
apple, while his victim was asleep; the cause
peing Bill's love for the other fellow's wife,
and finding him a disagreeable rival, he took
his little axe, and beat his head into a jam..."
