executed at Rutledge, Tenn., Dec. 27, 1667, for the mrder
of Wing McBee, By Wi12 R, McBath and Ee W © Adkins,

" Nance, a Union soldier, was convicted of killing M'Bee,
a Confderate, near the end of the war in 1864. Nance
Claimed to be drunk at the time, and had no recollection
of the killing. Presumably, if he had done it inten-
tionally, it might have been considered an act of war
and thereby justified." 712 MeDADE 213
