Kuhlman, a 20-year-old RKZE% salesman, Poholsky, a 35~year~old.ex-
coal miner engaged in construction work, and Williams,’a 29-vear-old
salesman,were all white men living in Cincinnati, Ohio, in.June,..
1936, when they were approached by Heber Hicks who offered them
$3,000 to kill a 70-year-@1d retired, Cincinnati Fire Captain, Harry
Miller, wno lived alone on his farm near,New Trenon, Ind, On the
wuening of June 11, they went to Miller's home, bludgeoned the old
man unconscious andtook him to. their car, As they were driving to
Carroll County, Kye, they shot him in the head, At a spot in rural
Carroll County, the decapitated the dead man with an axe and cut his
hands off at the wrists, These they covered with wet cement and,
after it had dried, they deposited the mass near Carrolltown, Ky.
They torso was left near Eminence, Kye, where it was discoverdd on
June 19. ‘The block of concreée was found on June 29th, and the re-
mains were identified as those of Miller, Hicks becamé a suspect
whén it was found that the wealthy retired fireman had left his en-
tire estate to his elderby spinster sister who lived in Cincimnati
and who was chauffeured and taken care of by Hicks, He confessed
