Robert L, Clay hanged Atlanta, Ga., on Def, 13, 1912, for
wife murder, Just before his execution he broke his silence
and admitted he killed his wife in May... Said that they
were separated and he went to her house to see her with no
intention of killing her, Had been drinking and when he
stooped to kiss their baby boy she shoved him, Infuriated,
he drew a revolver and shot her. As the cap was being
lowered over his head, he asked her father who was standing
on the gallows for permission to be buried by her side and
the old man refused,
