Confession of Joshua Burton, who was executed
for murder at Port Gibson, the 14th of
September: " I was born in 1780 in Maryland,
About three.years ago I went to Winchester,
Virginia, where I enlisted as a soldder under
Captain M'Call. About 18 months ago, witha
cousin of-mine, went with a boat load of flour
to New Orleans-- thence up to Natchez,"
