LIPSCOMB, G. W.
"A most tragic occurence took place in our usually quiet
town on Monday evening last. Matthew & Keys and James
White became engatéd in a warm altercation; G. W. Lipscomb
Was inciting them to fight. Addison Robertson came up and
interposed to make peace. Some remarks passed between him
and Lipscomb, when th latter drew a pocket knife with a
blade 4 inches. Robertson endeavored to repel Lipscomb,
tut ineffectually. Lipscomb stabbed him twice, Robertson
fell dnd died ten minutes later. Lipscomb was immediately
knocked down by a bystander and secured to await trial."
