criminal assault committed on two white women in Prince
William County last January... There had been some talk
of ‘trouble with the negroes on the day of the hanging but
there was no excitement whatsoever. Just before the
men marched to the scaffold, Robinson retracted his
statement that he had been understood to make that he had
been intimate with Mrs, Mifflin before the crimee Both
