Parish, Louisiana, on August ll, 1903, fob the murders
of Ward Earle, his wife, and four children near Welsh,
La., in February, 1902,

Batson was their farm hand. Crime not discovered for
several days. Batson appeared in Lake Charles with
live stock to see, representing himself as Ward Earl,

Relatives found bodies of Earls and their four children
shot and throats cut. Batson always denied crimes,
