SABO, Steven
Sabo, alias Sabra, was a 5@-year-old white native. of Hungary whom
had immigrated to the United States in 1907, leaving his wife and
three children behind and settling in Oklahoma where a brother,
Alex, had precededhim. Sabo worked at several different mining
jobs in Oklahoma and boarded at the home of his brother. On the
night of Sept. 18, 1921, he entered the bedroom of his sleeping
18-year-old neice, Sophia Sabo, a high school student and, after
raping her, stabbed her repeatedly before fheeing.' Miss Sabo was
able to make her way to a neighbor's house where she relatedthat
her uncle had assaulted and stabbed her before she died. Sabo was
tracked to a deserted mine where he was discovered at the bottom
of a shaft into which he had fallen. Several ribs were broken and
he was so severely injured that it was necessary for him to be kept
in the hoppital for several weeks before he could stand winked
