Woodford, a 19-year-old black man, lived at 710 Georgetown St., Lex-
ington, Ky. , For several years he had ridden the Douglass Park street
car of the Kentucky Traction and Terminal Company and he was acquaint-
ed with the motorman, 62-year-old J, M, Anderson, In November, 1933,
he was broke and needed money with which to purchase winter clothes,
Ke decided that Anderson would probably carry a large sum on his late
run and made plans to rob him, At 7 o'clock on the eeening of Nov,

5, he entered the car at its last stop at the intessection of Price's
Road and Georgetown Pike, He had disguised himself and was wearing

a raincoat, so Anderson did not recognize him, After he had deposited
his coin in the box, he drew his pistol and told Anderson that it was
"a stick-up," Anderson attempted to take the gun from him and he shot
him in the abdomen, inflicting a wound from which Anderson died the

discharged when his arm struk the door while struggling with Anderson,
