31-year-old black man, electrocuted March 10, 1912, at the
New Jersey State Prison (Camden), Confessed on April 25,
19h1, to basbball bat murder of 38-year-old Mrs, tenes
McBurney, a former rodeo star, Confessed after being
given a large steal dinner following a day's questioning.
Said: "You boys have been good to me and given me a big
feed. I'll confess now, I did it," Cox, a former WPA
worker, said he asked for a drink of water at the McBurney
farm house and when the family dog growled at hh he struck
it with a stick, Mrs, McBurney phshed him off the steps.
He said: "I saw a baseball bat lying there and I picked it

up and hit her with it until she was dead,"
