A 23=year=old Frankfort, Kye, a ttorney, Beauchamp
challanged Cole Solomon P. Sharp, a Member of the
Kentucky House of Representatives and former State
Attorney General, to a duel because Beauchamp!s
4O=year-old wife claimed that Sharp had once seduced
her. Sharp declined and Beauchamp went to his house
and stabbed him to death. Sentenced to die on the
gallows, Beauchamp was visited in his cell by his
aggng wife on the morning of the execution and they
both stabbed themselves in the stomach, Mrs, Beauchamp

died, but he was saved for the hangman and executed on
