- 320 reports affirmation of conviction and
death sentence in the case of John Adwell, a white man,
for the 11-17-1855 murder of another white man named Red-
ford T. Bailey. Executive Journal of Governor entry
dated 7-14-1856 notes issuance of death warrant. Barren
County Circuit Court Order Book, June Term, 1860, page
420, in issuing another death sentence, orders that gal-
lows be erected 'near where Adwell was hung’.
