"Michael Murray was hung dan. 21, 1885. He and two other

men were in a street fight and a knife in the hand of
Murray penetrated the heart of Daniel Swemey, Murray
received four wounds in the fight and popular opinion was
with him as it had been a general fight with no proof of
coldbblooded villainy, However, a verdict of sullty was
found and although the case was appealed to the supreme
court, the action of the Lower court was sustained." Ltr.
