TAN-TA-CHAH-MANNE and SHAKOPEE (Military?) 1865
"The. St. Paul PRESS thus describes the late execution at
Fort Snelling (Minn.) of the two Indians, Tan-ta-cha-manne
alias Medicine Bottle, and Shakopee, alias Little Six, sen
tenced upon the charge of aprticipation in the massacre of
1862: 'Their apparent indifference to the fate which await
ed them was truly astonishing, Unless interrupted by ine
terrogation or called upon to perform their devotions by
their spiritual advisers, they appeared to manifest no
concern whatever in what was transpiring. They sat there
looking as unconcerned as when we saw them two or three
months ago, and puffing away at their pipes as though
their days on earth were yet unnumbered, As soon as the
