Crenshaw, a ll-year-old Nashville, Termm., Negro who had
previously served two prison terms for robbery and attempt
to ravish held a white woman captive for 1 hours on the
night of Sept. 1, 1954, assaulting her while holding a
knife on her throat. The woman finally agreed to go to
Crenshaw's home with him if he would call a taxi and when
he went to place the call she fled. Crenshaw was identi-~
fied in a police line-up and convicted of rape. He was
electrocuted on Sept. 15, 1955,
