"Hermann, Mos, -25-189l-Webster Jackson was hanged here
this. morning at 8:15 o'clock. He made no confession and
met his fate with the same stoical indifference he has
shown during his long confinement. On October 20), L686,
near Labadie, Jackson shot and killed Alexander McVick~
_€rs, then cut his throat and rifled his pockets. He
made his escape and went to Hamilton, Oey where he was
arrested on a-charge of horse stealing. He was identi-
fied as the’ mirderer of McVickers, and was brought here
in Décember, 1886, tried, found guilty and sentenced to
