White, 55, hanged Greenshoro, NC, -s@f=1871 for
the 12-l.-1870 torture-gunshot murder of
elderly Thomas Price, black. Parker believed
that Price had burned his barn down and de-~
alared war on him. He locked Price in his
room and set his dogs on him. When Price
had been chewed up, Parker carried him on his
shoulders into a field and put him out of his
misery with a cunshot. The body was found in
the field where it was in the process of being
