"On the 20th ult. (May 20, 1802), was executed at Savannah
Gae, agreeable to the sentence of the last superior court
held in that city, John Rice, for grand larceny. He was
native, it is said, of this state or Virginia; had been
an old offender against .e.had practiced in that city a
series of villainy seldom equalled - entering at night,
by the aid of false keys, houses and stores and deliber=-
ately and leisurely plundering the citizens of their
property, to an unkown amount, He has left a wife and
children in Savannah, to lament his ignominious fate."
