BECKER, John Lange Cais
On the night of April 10, 1936, Becker, a watchman for
the Pittsburgh-Shawmut Railroad, bludgeoned and cut the
throat and wrists of Katie Bracken, a signal tower oper-
ator for the same company because she had spurned his
advances. Not suspected at first, Becker was subse-
quently a pprehended, tried and convicted. He died
