Prince Edward County, Virginia, March 19, 1355,
Court; Frank, the property of Thomas I, Owen,
who had been cOmmitted to the Cumberland County
Jail for safekeeping returned and Charged that
on Feb, <3, 1855, he had killed Violet, a slave!
He was valued at $600.00 and Sheriff N, Cunning,

April 27, 1855, "A negro man, the property of Dr, Owens
of Prince Edward County, Va., was tried this week before a
Court of Justices of that county, found guilty of the mgr
der of his wife, and was sentenced to suffer the penalty
of death by hanging, The murder was committed because the
wife failed to have the fellow's break baked when he went
to dinner, He dealt the death blow with an axe,tt RICH.
