to death Daniel S. Kramer and his wife Annette on Feb. 26,
1872, in their farmhouse near white House Station in
Washington Township on the Schuylkill & Susquehanna RR,
robbery being the motives Brown knew his victims had
"Large amounts of gold and silver coins in the house";
much sensation in Pottsville during the entire trial;
Brown was first person bo be hanged in Pottsville jail as
county seat had previously been at Orwigsburg; trials
were held in Lyceum Hall (except on nights when sociables
were seheduled); Brown was buried in the jail yard; fully
