"EXECUTION. _G,iffin Spewart, a free negro, convicted of
Penny Anderson, a white woman with whom he cohabited in
this county, and who had his trial removed to Nash Count
was hung at Nashville, on Fypiday of last week (probably
Ogtober 19, 189), He made no confessions of his cuilt,
in this case and several others imputed to him - but
warned his colored friends from being temted by the
devil as he had been. An immense concourse of people
