According to the DENTON, Maryland, JOURNAL, August 28,
1915, a man named Shelby Jump was hanged there in 1822,
However, this year is undoubtedly.,in error as the follow-
ing was taken from the COURIER, Charleston, SC, July 16,
1829 (2:3): "FRATRICIDE = A man named Selby Jump, peeidiae
near Hillsborough, C roline County, Mide, discharged a gun
at his brother on the 2nd inste, which occassioned his
death. The murder er had previously declared h&s inten-
tion to do the deed, and went accordingly to his brother's
dwelling, called him out, and instantly put his threat in-
to execution."
