Mexican, electrocuted, Texas State Prison (Wilson) on
April 15, 1939, for rape-murder of Hope Elizondo on
May 20, 1938, ,Was l9-year-old farm laborer (8 at time

"Apr. 15, 1939-Jusus Herrera died in the electmic chair in
the state penitentiary at 12:10 Saturday for the assault-
slaying of hope Elizondo, ll-year-old La Vernia school-
girl, The current was applied at 12:02 a.m The Wilson
County tenant farmer had received a reprieve from his ori-
ginally scheduled execution, March 16, The child was rap-
