"At the recent term of the Pendleton Criminal Court at
Falmouth, Kye, Alexander Plummer and James Barnes were
found guilty of the murder of Leonard Moss, a discharged
Union soldier, in August, 1865, and sentenced to be hanged
on Nov. 23, 1866. Plummer is 22 years old. and had been in
Metcalf's Kentucky mounted regiment 3 years, and was dis-
charged about 6 weeks prior to the murder, Barnes is 19
years old and had appeared to suffer much during the last
2 days of the trial, Plummer, upon being returned to the
jail remarked that there were 3 men in Pendleton County
that he wanted to kill - that one of them was in the court
