WILLIAMS, William C, ("Willie")

Williams, a 29-year-old white man, had been sentenced to life im-
prisonment from his native Mobile County, Ala., for robbery in
1934. He escaped from a prison gang and made BAX his way to Bir-
_mingham, Ala., where, on May 30, 1939, Detective J. T. Moser attempt:
ed to arrest him. Williams shot and killed the officer and was
captured shortly afterwards, Convicted and sentenced to die, his
case was appealed to the Alabama Supreme Court on the grounds that
the fact that he was an escaped BELKEKEE life prisoner was mentioned

The conviction was affirmed and he was electrocuted at Kilby Prison
