"eeeete (Sheriff Clements of Arlington Co,, Va.) also
mentioned that in 1921 a black man named Turner was
apprehended on a murder and a rape charge in Arlington,
was removed to another area (Harrisonburg?) to prevent
a lynching attempt, and then was hung in Richmond, ‘he
Sheriff does not recall whether this was under Federal
or State Law....'!

(NOTE: I would assume probably Federal as name is not
on list of executions and State of Virginia was electro-
cuting im 1921)
