JULIAN
Julian, a Negro slave owned by Major Quincy of Bridgewater, Masse,
ran away from his master in September, 1732. “Quincy offered a re=-
ward for Julian's return and John Rogers of Pembroke found his
trail and cornered him in a cornfield. Determined to have his free-
dom, Julian pulled a knife and stabbed Pembroke to death. He was
subsequently Cap uie Bue convicted of the murder. He was hanged
